Questions students and parents ask
What happens when my free week ends?
You move to the Free plan and keep using Root. Choose a paid plan whenever you want more messages, tests and a full study plan.
When am I charged?
Only when you choose a paid plan and pay at the secure Stripe checkout. Your plan switches on as soon as the payment goes through. Prices are in US dollars.
Can a parent pay?
Yes. Any card works at checkout, so a parent can pay while the plan stays on the student’s own Root account.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from Settings and you keep your plan until the end of the period you have paid for. After that, the account goes back to Free.
What if we stop partway through a yearly plan?
You keep the plan until the year ends and it won’t renew. Payments are otherwise non-refundable, except where the law gives you a right to cancel (for example the 14-day cooling-off right in the UK and EEA). Email support@roottutor.com and we’ll sort it.
How do Pro, Scholar and Mastery differ?
In how much you get each week or day, and in the level of your teaching coach. Every plan, including Free, runs the same Root tutor. Pro is 600 tutor messages and 7 practice tests a week. Scholar is 1,000 messages and 14 tests a week, and plans every class. Mastery is 1,400 messages, 28 tests a week and 30 files per unit.
How do the message limits work?
You get one pot of tutor messages a week, and it refills every Monday. Free is 60 a week, Pro 600, Scholar 1,000, Mastery 1,400. There is no daily cap, and Root tells you when you have used half, three-quarters and nine-tenths. Revision mode has its own weekly pot.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the billing page in Settings.
Is my data safe?
Your work stays private to your account. You can download all of your data from Settings at any time, or delete your account completely.
